According to spending reports released by the U.S. Dept. of Education, New Hampshire has obligated 41% of its IDEA Part B Recovery funds, or $19,427,032 as of September 30, 2010. The national average is 50%. Spending details by local school district are available at EdMoney.org.
Latest state-by-state spending reports are always available here. All IDEA Recovery Act funds must be obligated by September 30, 2011.

Educators Look to Spend Special Education Funds

School officials have begun to discuss how they are going to spend special education money coming from Washington.
As part of the federal stimulus package New Hampshire is set to receive about forty-seven million dollars over the next two school years.
But while school districts are eager to get busy, they are waiting for the U.S. Department of Education to finalize rules that spell out how the new funding can be used.

New Hampshire will receive $47,461,265 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to improve its services to school-aged students with disabilities.
We will report on how these funds are being used and how the academic achievement of students with disabilities is improving as a result.
